Riley is a Legal Assistant at Jeff Horsey Solicitor and is currently in his second year of a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) at Griffith University. Originally from New Zealand, Riley has made Queensland home while pursuing his studies and developing his career in the legal profession.

 

Prior to commencing his Bachelor of Laws, Riley completed a Diploma of Business and gained experience working in sales and tutoring. Through these roles, Riley developed strong communication and interpersonal skills and learned how to effectively work with people from a variety of backgrounds. His experience in tutoring also strengthened his ability to explain information clearly and patiently, skills which continue to benefit him in both his legal studies and professional role.

 

In his role as a Legal Assistant, Riley supports the conveyancer and solicitors and wider legal team across a range of matters. Working at the firm alongside his university studies gives Riley the opportunity to gain valuable practical experience and further develop his understanding of the law and the legal profession.

 

Riley currently has a particular interest in Criminal Law and enjoys learning about both the practical and procedural aspects of this area. As he progresses through his degree and gains further experience, Riley hopes to broaden his knowledge across a variety of areas of law. Following graduation and admission as a solicitor, he aspires to develop a diverse legal practice and gain experience across a wide range of matters.

 

Outside of work and university, Riley enjoys going out, keeping active at the gym, spending time with family and friends, eating out and travelling. He has a keen interest in seeing more of the world and hopes to travel extensively overseas in the future. Originally from New Zealand, Riley also enjoys getting back across the Tasman when he can.

 

Riley brings a friendly and approachable nature to the firm and enjoys the opportunity to learn from the experienced legal professionals around him. He looks forward to continuing his studies, developing his practical legal skills and progressing towards his goal of becoming a solicitor.
