Melissa Somerville - Solicitor

Melissa was admitted to the Supreme Court of Queensland as a Solicitor in March 2023. She commenced with Jeff Horsey Solicitor as a Graduate Paralegal in June 2022 to complete her final practical requirements as a Solicitor.

With over six years of legal experience, Melissa has worked across a range of practice areas, including Personal Injury Compensation Claims, Family Law, Criminal and Traffic Matters, and Wills and Estates. She has always enjoyed helping vulnerable clients in their times of need and takes a caring and empathetic approach to her work. In 2021, Melissa completed a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Business and Commerce with a major in Human Resource Management at the University of Southern Queensland. Melissa has further completed her Graduate Diploma in Practical Legal Training. Throughout her studies, Melissa worked tirelessly to develop her legal knowledge and practical skills, while also balancing the demands of motherhood.

Melissa is a dedicated mother of two young children who understands the importance of family values and the role of parents in their children’s lives. Since primary school Melissa has dreamed of pursuing a career in law and that dream has never wavered. Her desire for helping people through tough times has pursued her passion for a career in law, with a particular focus on criminal and family law.

For Melissa, the most rewarding aspect of her work is knowing that she has helped someone’s life for the better. She recognises that every client’s situation is unique and requires a tailored approach to their legal needs.
